• It’s important to use a special detergent to maintain your wool and silk, as the formula protects the natural fibres of your textiles.

  • If you use an everyday laundry detergent, the enzymes do not differentiate between protein stains and protein molecules of the sensitive fibres of wool and silk and could therefore damage them.

  • With the right programme and the right detergent, it’s safe to wash wool and silk garments in the machine.

  • Delicate items of clothing that used to have to go to the dry cleaners can now sometimes be washed at home.

Sustainable use

  • Choose products that have the Charter for Sustainable Cleaning logo on their label, this indicates that you are choosing a product that meets strict sustainability criteria.

  • Sort your laundry according to colour. Keep dark or deep colours separate from whites and light colours.

  • Some products are specifically designed for hand-washing delicate or lightly soiled items. Do not use these products in your machine as you will get too much foam.

  • It is possible to use a machine-wash detergent for hand-washes. Follow dosing instructions carefully.

  • Follow the instructions for hand-washing wool items or choose the wool programme on your washing machine, if the garment’s care label indicates you can.

  • Where available, use compact or concentrated products, as they allow you to dose less, which saves product and reduces packaging waste.

  • Do not fill the machine to more than half with special care items and reduce the spin speed. Read the instruction manual for your machine.
